Argonne National Laboratory is seeking a Computer Systems Engineering Associate to provide data network and systems support for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) Climate Research Facility. Responsibilities include configuring, securing, and maintaining Linux and VMWare ESXi environments to support atmospheric instruments worldwide, as well as troubleshooting communications issues between systems (e.g., serial, Ethernet, fiber, etc.). This position requires domestic and foreign travel on a frequent basis.
The successful candidate will:
- Provide technical support for instrumentation and instrument computers running Linux and Windows, as well as user support for ARM site technicians and instrument mentors
- Provide technical support and maintenance on ARM data system networks and servers running CISCO, Juniper, VMware, Linux, and Windows
- Assist in the design, testing, integrating, and documenting of computer/network systems, cyber security infrastructure, and wide and local area systems communications
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge for computer systems, networks, and cyber security technologies.
