CAWCR is seeking a scientist to undertake research on the evolution of tropical cloud systems using a combination of polarimetric weather radar, cloud radar and other instruments. Particular areas of interest include the factors controlling the evolution of these cloud systems and their interaction with the large scale as well as using these data for validation of a range of modeling activities including the physical processes in these models.
An MSc or PhD and research experience in a field relevant to radar observations of cloud systems is required. Experience in the analysis of deep convective cloud systems with polarimetric radar is desirable.
The appointee will be a member of the CAWCR Atmosphere-Land Observation and Assessment Group and will play a key role in the study of tropical cloud systems and their impacts in collaboration with the ARM Climate Research Facility and the DOE Atmospheric System Research program.
