Postdoc Position Available in France


Laboratoire des sciences du climat et de l’environnement (LSCE) in Gif-sur-Yvette, France is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to work on modeling of Sahel land surface/drought feedbacks within the EU-funded ClimAfrica project.

The successful candidate will investigate the causes of the variability of Sahel vegetation over the past 50 years using the ORCHIDEE terrestrial biosphere model. A PhD in terrestrial biogeochemistry, atmospheric science or related field is required. Experience with numerical Earth system modeling (i.e. FORTRAN), and data analysis (e.g. Matlab, IDL, ferret, or equivalent) programming languages is essential.

The research will be carried out at LSCE, in the terrestrial biogeochemistry modeling group, with Charlie Koven and Philippe Ciais. The position is for a CEA postdoc, with funding for 3 years, and salary of approximately 2000-2500 Euros/month depending upon experience.
