Anna C. Palmisano, PhD, Associate Director of Science for Biological and Environmental Research (BER), Office of Science, U.S. Department of Energy, has requested nominations for Director of Climate and Environmental Sciences. She is accepting nominations (self-nominations also) via email until January 20, 2010. However, applications will be accepted until February 23, 2010.
The division director will have primary responsibility for overall management of climate and environmental research including strategic planning, budget formulation and execution, and coordination with other parts of DOE and with other federal agencies. The division director is also responsible for oversight of two scientific user facilities—the Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) Climate Research Facility and the Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory—that provide the scientific community with technical capabilities, scientific expertise, and unique information to facilitate science in areas of importance to DOE. The division director will supervise a technical and administrative staff of about 16 people.
