Postdoctoral Fellowship in Trace Gas Remote Sensing at LANL

Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking candidates with a strong background in hyper‐spectral remote sensing, operating spectrometers, performing retrievals and integrating them to publish high profile papers. Candidates will gain data to inform areas of both the natural global carbon cycle and also the verification of greenhouse gas emissions. The position will require field‐work, data analysis, and interactions with Total Column Carbon Observatory scientists. The project has considerable synergy with LANL’s world‐class coupled climate modeling, satellite, and in situ aerosol/trace‐gas measurements programs. It involves working with scientists in the Earth and Environmental Sciences and International Space Response Divisions.

Applicants must have exceptional academic and publication records to compete for one of the limited number of Postdoctoral Fellow appointments awarded quarterly. Postdoc proposals must be prepared in collaboration with and submitted by a LANL staff member. A PhD completed within the last five years or soon to be completed is required. Nomination packages will be submitted starting December 2009 and continuing through June 2010.
