The Hawaii Group for Environmental Aerosol Research (HiGEAR) is seeking applications for the Department of Oceanography at the University of Hawaii. Primary areas of research will include working with NASA and NSF to investigate the properties and sources of aerosol, atmospheric processes, remote sensing products, and cloud interactions. This work will include using existing and future aircraft aerosol data sets to study aerosol microphysical, chemical, optical properties, and making aerosol measurements.
This position requires a PhD in atmospheric sciences or related field, regional or global-scale modeling experience, and demonstrable writing skills. Preferred candidates also posses experience working with contemporary aerosol instrumentation such as AMS, SP2, aerosol spectrometers, and are familiar with related programs (e.g., MATLAB, Labview, IGOR).
The starting salary range is between $50K – $60K/year depending on qualifications, experience, and expertise. The position is for a minimum of one year, with the option to renew annually.
