Lectureship in Remote Sensing at the University of Reading Available

The University of Reading in the United Kingdom is seeking a scientist with an outstanding research record to join the department of meteorology for the permanent post of lecturer (approximately equivalent to a tenured assistant professor).

Applicants in the area of remote sensing of the atmosphere with an interest in active radar and lidar techniques for probing clouds, cloud processes, and precipitation are particularly encouraged. The department has strong links with the nearby Chilbolton observatory where a suite of ground-based radars and lidars provide continuous profiles of clouds and aerosol. It is also heavily involved with analysis of data from the recently launched CloudSat radar and Calipso lidar satellites. In addition, the department provides the European scientific leadership for the joint ESA/Japanese “EarthCARE” mission, which will launch a cloud radar and lidar in space in 2013.
