Radar Engineer Opportunity with ARM

The Atmospheric Sciences and Global Change Division at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory seeks a radar engineer to assist in the maintenance and application of a global radar network in support of the ARM Climate Research Facility. The successful candidate will perform analysis of radar data to assess the operational status of radars in the ARM network and must be skilled in the use of general and radio frequency specific test equipment.

Other responsibilities include directing and performing hardware repair, modifications, and upgrades. The position involves periodic travel (up to 25% of the time) to programmatic meetings and to ARM sites in the United States and around the world. Daily interaction with project managers, other engineers, and scientists is required to assess the status of radars and recommend appropriate courses of action.

Candidates should possess a strong background and experience in Pulse Doppler radar, radar signal processing, radar meteorology, computer hardware/software integration, system design/integration, communications theory, radio frequency propagation, and data analysis software (MATLAB, IDL, etc.). Candidates will apply, on a broad basis, existing theories, principles, and concepts associated with electrical engineering and radar. Minimum education requirements are a Master of Science in electrical engineering with 3+ years experience or a PhD in electrical engineering with 1-2 years experience.
