Argonne National Laboratory Seeking Deputy Division Director


Argonne National Laboratory is seeking a Deputy Division Director of the Environmental Science Division. The Deputy Division Director will exercise line management skills, assisting the Division Director with scientific and administrative leadership of the division. The Deputy Division Director will work collaboratively with laboratory, academic, and industrial partners to develop, build, and manage a high-profile industrial user portfolio in a matrix-based environment. This individual will serve as a spokesperson for the division and assumes full responsibility for the division as required.

The successful candidate will:

  • Develop productive collaborations with sponsors/scientists within national laboratories and with other academic/scientific organizations
  • Manage budgets and resources for a scientific program
  • Apply strategic management concepts and methods
  • Maintain oral and written communication, establish effective interpersonal relationships, and motivate multidisciplinary scientific and technical staff.

Minimum requirements include a Ph.D. in environmental science, or related field, supplemented by no less than 10 years of relevant experience in multi-program administration and new program development.
