A three-year appointment for a postdoc or Ph.D. level position is available at the Institute of Physics and Meteorology (IPM), Hohenheim University, in Stuttgart, Germany, in the field measurements and modeling working group. This position will focus on the calculation of high-quality climate projections for southwest Germany during the time period until 2030, with a special focus on the interdependency between utilized agricultural areas and the atmosphere. The Weather Research and Forecasting model (WRF) and the Community Land Model (CLM) will be coupled, as well as elaborated, by integrating the plant growth model Expert-N and a multi-agent decision model (MAS). This model system will be verified using the new data sets from the World Weather Research Programme’s Convective and Orographically-induced Precipitation Study (COPS) as well as the Demonstration of Probabilistic Hydrological and Atmospheric Simulation of flood Events in the Alpine region (D-PHASE).
Conditions for employment for the postdoc position are a Ph.D. in mathematics, physics, Earth sciences, or comparable achievements. For the Ph.D. position, a diploma or M.Sc. degree is required in one of the aforementioned subjects. Applications will be accepted until March 1, 2009. Please send them to:
