University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Seeking Two Faculty Positions


The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Department of Atmospheric Sciences within the School of Earth, Society, and Environment invites applications for two full-time tenure-track/tenured faculty positions in the areas of extreme weather events, climate change impacts, and/or risk analysis and assessment. One position will be at the associate or full professor level, while the other will be at the assistant professor (tenure-track) level. These positions are both nine-month academic appointments with a target start date of August 16, 2014.

Qualified candidates must have a Ph.D. in atmospheric, environmental, earth science, or a related field. The successful candidates will be expected to:

  • establish and maintain an externally funded and internationally recognized quality research program
  • participate in the department’s teaching mission by mentoring graduate and undergraduate students
  • collaborate effectively with other faculty.

For a tenured appointment at the associate or full professor level, the applicant must also show demonstrated excellence in research, service, and teaching at either or both the graduate and undergraduate levels, commensurate with tenure guidelines at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
