The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is seeking a physical scientist to work in the Atmospheric Modeling and Analysis Division at the Office of Research and Development, National Exposure and Research Laboratory in North Carolina. This position is permanent full time, with an annual salary range of $70,906 to $109,611.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Provide technical expertise for the division in the area of atmospheric data analysis and evaluation of atmospheric models when applied at large spatial and time scales
- Participate in configuring, testing, and applying atmospheric models with linkages to global models, and
- Identify potential improvements or refinements to atmospheric models enabling continental and hemispheric simulations.
Candidates for consideration must possess:
- Skill in using and/or developing evaluation methodologies for atmospheric models
- Knowledge in atmospheric transport processes and formulations, numerical modeling methods, and statistical methods
- Knowledge in processing, and analyzing observational and modeled data at continental/hemispheric scales
- Knowledge of atmospheric physical processes, formulations, and their applicability at various special scales
- Ability to work on a scientific team
- Skill in oral communication with other scientists in scientific and/or technical discussions, and
- Ability to write scientific and/or technical documents.
