Along with ski area ambassador Linda Danter (orange coat), Gannet, Brad, and Lynne (left to right) pause during media day to model the awesome coats that DRI/Storm Peak Lab has for on-site STORMVEX team members. Those babies are warm!We held a media day yesterday. A reporter with the local paper, the Steamboat Pilot and Today, spent several hours talking with Matt Shupe, Brad Orr, Gannet Hallar, and Stephen Springston. Their photographer joined us at the valley site, where local volunteer Linda Danter launched a weather balloon. Linda is also a ski area ambassador, and she graciously escorted the nonskiers in the group to the other sites. She was just delightful to have along – thank you, Linda!
Matt also talked with Brian Larson, the news director for KUNC, the public radio station for Northern Colorado. I heard the story later that afternoon during NPR’s All Things Considered!
Steamboat Ski Corp films Matt near the operations van at the Thunderhead site.Mike Lane and Michael Bye from the Steamboat Ski Corp media team joined us at the Thunderhead site and got some footage and soundbites from Matt, Gannet, and Brad. They’ll put together short story packages (“b-roll” in the biz) that broadcasters can use for TV coverage. I’ve seen some of their work and they do an AWESOME job.
It is snowing like crazy outside right now, so I’m going to go and return my skis before it starts piling up on the roads. The area is under winter storm warning until 3 p.m. tomorrow – hope my flight gets out. It’s great here, but I’m just saying…! — Lynne
